In groups of three 1 student played the role of the ' educator' and 2 were the ' children'. In my experience many students find this 'conversation with young children' challenging and so the more practise they can have and get used to it will help overcome their insecurities.
I have found that many students are shy of the sound of their own voices, so we practise story reading and singing regularly.
Some of the discussion in this class group centred around:
- Extending children language and literacy by asking open ended questions
- Encouraging children's motor and planning skills through making encouraging comments
- Scaffolding children's interests in trains/ transport/ construction
The students did this for around 30 minutes, taking it in turns to be the educator or the child.
The feedback from the students was positive and they would like to do this more and more.
What a good idea! Do the student give one another feeedback or is it only from the students?
ReplyDeleteYes, a very good idea! My experience is that the students are sometimes more shy to the other students in the class than the children at preeschool. It´s not only good fore your own skills as a childkeeper.I think its good for the "athmosphere" in the class.
ReplyDeleteYes the students are free to chat together . And give each other ideas and encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking...
ReplyDeleteDo you have this kind of education for adults?
If you have.... do you have requirement for a certain level in english?
Hi there - our courses are for students aged 17 and up -
DeleteThere is no minimum requirement to enter the course but the school leaving age in Australia is 17 so this means that they have completed
Studies until then .
