It is my first time as a BLOGGER.
This is the view from the carpark adjacent to the building where I teach. Where I teach is called NEW ENGLAND INSTITUTE - Tamworth TAFE Campus. I am a teacher in Children's Services . We teach adults - 17 and up to work with children across a variety of settings -
- Family Day Care Educators ( educators who work in their own home and care for up to 5 children aged 0-5)
- Pre School ( as educators of children aged 3-6)
- Long Day Care ( as educators of children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years)
Behind the fence is a little playground that we have just started building and we use it when we have visiting children's services. Children come from our local area to allow our students some interaction with the children and opportunity to place theory into practice.
Hi, how many student do you have in a class? Can they validate this progamme?
ReplyDeleteIt´s so interesting that you bring the children to your school. Our education is very teoretical inside the school.
ReplyDeleteIn each class it can vary - we need 12 to run the course to a maximum of 25 each intake. In Australia most courses will have a strongly weighted practical component at the TAFE level. If a student goes onto UNIVERSITY , the classes become more theoretical . Historically TAFE being a vocational trainer has taught the " trade" orientated courses.
ReplyDeleteGreat introduction to read a litle bit about you as well, it gave me a more interesting reading!
ReplyDeleteGood idee to invite children to your school, is it working? Is it a lot of Pre schools that will come?
Of my experiens frome Sweden the students have to invite them selfs to diffrent Pre schools for practicing a praxis.
Yes it works well each week we have a local service come with the children who are in walking distance to the environment.
DeleteThe next week the children come on a bus owned by the preschool.
Each student has their 2 weeks work placement arranged for them by a coordinator within our institute .
ReplyDeleteThis covers them for insurance etc.
By validate - do you mean RPL as in can students present their own documents that show they meet the requirements to pass the units ? We call this process " recognition"
